Below are some frequently asked questions about using the system.

What is GAIN's Training Center?

GAIN's training center is a platform where trainings can be shared throughout the Democratic and progressive professional communities. GAIN, working with various entities and individuals, collects and curates trainings so people can learn more skills to further develop their careers.

How is pricing for courses determined?

The entity creating the content determines the price level for their content, with 70% of revenues going to the content creator and 30% going to GAIN. Many trainings take extensive amount of time to put together and the entity creating it should be compensated fairly. If the content creator determine that they want their content to be available for free, GAIN will make it free to current paid members, and or for non-paid members, charge the equivalent to a basic membership to cover hosting costs.

Why do I need to go to the GAIN store for trainings?

The store allows our system to determine what your current membership is and price the course appropriately. Even with free courses, you'll need to check out (but free courses will not ask for your credit card information)

Does GAIN do certifications?

At this time, GAIN does not provide certifications in various skills. You can say to potential employers that you've taken various classes at GAIN though.

I have a training I'd like to put into the training center - how do I do that?

That's great to hear. Please email trainings@democraticgain.org with a description of what you'd like to submit, what entity you represent, and what price you'd like it to be within the store. We generally recommend trainings be 5-20 minute videos. You can just take a PowerPoint that you have and record it (more information on how to do so here) or send other videos. We can also host PDFs, word docs, or SCORM files, or link out to third party websites or YouTube. GAIN staff will review content for relevance, appropriateness, and quality, then put it up.
